Saturday 13 October was the closing day of 31.BI-MU/SFORTEC INDUSTRY, the biennial exhibition of machine tools,
robotics, automation, auxiliary technologies, digital manufacturing and enabling technologies, promoted by UCIMUSISTEMI PER PRODURRE and organised by EFIM-ENTE FIERE ITALIANE MACCHINE, which enjoyed the full appreciation
of the operators participating in the 5 days of the event.
A total of 65,000 visits were registered at the entrances of the exhibition that presented the product offering of 1,056
enterprises, 40% of which were from abroad, representing 27 countries. The event covered an exhibition area of
100,000 square meter, 10% more than in the 2016 edition.
The renewed and expanded technological index of products, extended to the world of IoT and of digital technologies,
to consulting services and to start-up companies, enjoyed the full appreciation of the operators visiting the trade
show: they found a qualified exhibition, partially new and rich in interesting contents expressed at the stands and
analysed also in the BI-MUpiù programme of meetings, organized by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE and
FONDAZIONE UCIMU with the support of the Lombardy Region, and BI-MUpiùAdditive arranged by AITA (Italian
Association of Additives Technologies).
The undisputed protagonist of the event was innovation, also but not only from a digital point of view, which had the
most appropriate stage at 31.BI-MU/SFORTEC INDUSTRY to illustrate the technological evolution characterising the
diffusion of Industry 4.0 in these first years.
Metal cutting and metal forming machine tools, robots, automation, digital manufacturing, auxiliary technologies,
enabling technologies, additive manufacturing, fluid-power systems, mechatronics, surface finish treatments, tools,
components, equipment and accessories, metrology, welding, IoT, Big data, analytics, cyber security, cloud computing,
augmented reality, system integrators, vision systems, software: these were the technologies on show at 31.BIMU/SFORTEC INDUSTRY, which, besides the traditional product offering, also hosted the New Innovation Areas
dedicated to IoT (FABBRICAFUTURA), robots (ROBOT PLANET), consulting (BOX CONSULTING) and start-up companies
The product ranges on show attracted visitors also from abroad, amounting to 5% of the total and representing 80
countries. The participation of qualified foreign operators was ensured also by 231 delegates of the incoming mission
of buyers coming from 22 countries, organised by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, Ministry of Economic
Development and ICE-Italian Trade Agency.
A very positive experience was also that of the participants of the Collettiva Start-up Italiane (Italian Start-up
Companies Collective), arranged by ICE-Italian Trade Agency, with the co-operation of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER
PRODURRE and Start-up Italy Association. The area hosted interesting solutions developed by 12 selected companies.
In addition, EIT Digital presented a wide range of solutions proposed by six highly innovative scale-up companies
belonging to the EIT Digital Accelerator.
The 3,000 students visiting the exhibition and coming from selected professional institutes and high schools were
involved in a guided tour organised with the support of PIANETA GIOVANI/PLANET OF THE YOUNG, FONDAZIONE
UCIMU and Ecole.
The 90 events proposed in the programme of BI-MUpiù and BI-MUpiùAdditive registered over 600 accreditations in
the online pre-registration with peaks of over 100 visitors.
Even the special event of FCA-Alfa Romeo, participating with a stand in Hall 13 and with the test-drive area for all car
enthusiasts interested in testing the flagship cars of the FCA Group, had great success of public, with 595 tests by
