The results are derived from the responses to the customer satisfaction questionnaire, which was sent to the Exhibitors of 31.BI-MU in the month of December. The survey response rate was 40%.
BI-MU, THE “NUMBER ONE” EXHIBITION FOR THE MACHINE TOOL, ROBOT AND AUTOMATION
BI-MU is the only exhibition in Italy that is really focused on the machine tool, robot and automation manufacturing industry.
Its importance lies in its comprehensive representation of the sector. With regard to size distribution, considering the number of employees, the most part of the exhibiting enterprises at 31.BI-MU are SMEs that make up 63% of the total. Large-sized companies come after (26%); those with over 250 employees represent 11% of the total.
All technologies are well represented. The part covered by cutting machines is preeminent, but there is also a wide overview of sheet-metal forming technologies; components, additive technologies, metrology, software and tooling complete the range on show.
More than 80% of the Exhibitors at 31.BI-MU said that they were satisfied with the exhibition. If we concentrate our attention on the highest scores, we observe that 50% of the exhibitors gave an extremely positive evaluation.
Compared with the previous edition (2016), 56% of the exhibitors rated the 2018 edition in line with that of 2016, 30% of them said that it was better!
91% of Exhibitors gave a positive evaluation of the services provided by the Exhibition Centre of fieramilano Rho and 95% of them were satisfied with the Exhibition organization, showing higher appreciation for logistic services and accessibility to the fairground (transport means and shuttles).
EFIM-ENTE FIERE ITALIANE MACCHINE PASSED WITH FLYING COLOURS
EFIM, the institution in charge of the organisation of BI-MU, supports its customers in an appropriate and accurate way. This is the Exhibitors’ opinion about their relations with the Organisers, which gained an even higher appreciation compared with that obtained by fieramilano. In particular, 57% of the interviewees said that the relations with the Exhibition staff were good and about 40% of them indicated that it was excellent.
The communication and promotion activities of the exhibition were appreciated by almost all Exhibitors: 67% of them said they were good, 30% rated them as excellent.
BI-MUpiù – the arena that hosted over 60 speeches – , BI-MUpiùAdditive – the arena for the Additive Manufacturing world – , BI-MU STARTUPPER – the area dedicated to the startup companies -, the FCA-Alfa Romeo event and the trade mission involving more than 250 foreign buyers: these are the most important initiatives organized during 31.BI-MU. A percentage of 60% of exhibitors not only were informed about them, but they also rated them positively.
THE RIGHT TRADE SHOW FOR THE ENTERPRISES OF THE SECTOR
The Exhibitors at 31.BI-MU feel at home: 92% of them considers it as representative of the sector and give evaluations between “good” and “excellent”. One third of the total rated it as excellent with regard to the exhibited technology and brands included in the catalogue.
MANY INTERESTED VISITORS AT 31.BI-MU
A percentage of 89% of Exhibitors considered the attendance of Italian visitors at the trade show positively. A positive evaluation was given by 55% of foreign exhibitors.
A percentage of 86% of Exhibitors showed appreciation for the visitors of the trade show; 71% of them said that the quality of visitors was good, 15% rated it as excellent.
31.BI-MU WITH REGARD TO COMPANIES’ TARGETS
The first target related to the participation in BI-MU is to meet new customers according to 62% of the Exhibitors. The promotion of their company’s image is a primary goal for 21% of the respondents. Then, in order of importance, the targets are “launching new products” and “meeting established customers”.
Considering these targets, the rating of results achieved is extremely positive: for all targets, the rating is around 7 on a 1 to 9 scale. Based on a deeper analysis, the best score is for “promoting company’s image”. “Meeting new customers” is always the most difficult target to achieve, but, with regard to 31.BI-MU, the rating expressed by Exhibitors is, however, high.
31.BI-MU, AN EXHIBITON TO DO BUSINESS
At BI-MU visitors come to make purchases. A percentage of 60% of Exhibitors gave a positive evaluation of the contacts established at the trade show, The rating of the effectiveness of leads (potential sales contacts) collected at BI-MU is even better, if they are considered with a view to the future: 75% of exhibitors are satisfied with them; 17.5% of the interviewees think that they are excellent and 67% of them rate them as good.
