ROSA ERMANDO introduces the new R46
This grinding machine, concentrate of 50 years of experience in grinding technology.
The main news is the table drive, through a digital linear motor. The use of this technology allows to reduce significantly the reversing table time, permits a table feed till 65 m/min and, generally, allows to reduce the total production time, increasing the productivity.
The electro-spindle has a coupling HSK B125 which allows to reduce the wheel change time, reach high speed (till 6.000 rpm) with a power range between 7,5 and 25 kW.
The R46 is able to handle the single part job, small batches to the big series, with the possibility to grind also in man-less mode (night shift).
The CNC control unit is a Siemens 840 DE-SL TOUCH with the easy-to-use software interface ROSA SYSTEM 9. Programming the machine is very easy, thanks to the software macros which allows the use of the machine also for the operator which came from conventional grinder.
With the new R46 is possible to grind in conventional longitudinal grinding cycle, creep feed mode, realise convex/concave profile on the longitudinal as well as the transversal axes.
Grinding machine for surfaces and profiles,STEEL LINEAR
The new Grinding machine STEEL LINEAR allows both reciprocating grinding and creep-feed grinding (full cut) carrying out concave (hollow) and convex (camber) profile grinding both in cross and longitudinal direction.
The movement of the table is obtained by a digital linear motor. This permits a considerable reduction of the time for reversing the table motion by ensuring a higher speed of the table (up to 60 m/min). During plunge grinding and reciprocating grinding, the overtravel and the time for table reverse will be reduced. In this manner, independently from the work length, the grinding times are up to 40% shorter.
The cooling by fluid of the linear motor separates thermally the motor from the machine frame, thus offering positive effects on the thermal behaviour and thermal stability. Also the geometrical precision of the workpieces is ensured by a direct linear drive, so that components subject to wear (ball-screws, belts, couplings or cylinders) are no longer required.
The machine can be equipped with additional devices such as lateral grinding heads and dividing apparatuses so to grind complex workpiece shapes which before required several set-up steps. Thus the work-in-process operation can be avoided, and the output capacity of the machine can be increased.
This grinding machine may be used both for small and for large series as well as for single parts, where the complete grinding job can be carried out on the machine unmanned.

Siemens 840 DE-SL TOUCH ROSA SYSTEM 9: CNC specially designed for grinding machines, having 6 controlled axes, integrated PLC, high-resolution 19” colour screen, integrated CAD-CAM system for creating profiles, dynamic simulation of the work and optimisation of the tool path. Programming of the machine is very simple and is facilitated by the use of interactive windows. Therefore also a traditional operator can easily use this kind of CNC grinding machine.
