Interview with Davide Lavazza
PIETRO CARNAGHI

You are long-standing exhibitors at BI-MU. What convinced you to participate again this year?

BI-MU, a reference point of the sector for the Italian market, has always represented a “necessary” event for our company. As Italian manufacturers, indeed we cannot miss this opportunity, which enables us, at each edition, to increase our presence in Italy and demonstrate our entrepreneurial reliability and strength, especially to our Italian and non-Italian customers.

Do you have any particular expectations for the 2024 edition?

We expect a good turnout, up compared to previous years. This exhibition has always proved an “advantageous” choice for us and we are confident that it will reward us again in this edition. In addition, the eight exhibition themes of 34.BI-MU, proposed next to machine tools, can offer us food for thought and new ideas for the production future of our company, which is presently focused on traditional technologies.

How do you see the current economic situation? How will the market trend affect the success of 34.BI-MU?

With reference to the Italian market, the economic situation is positive and we expect a good trend for the rest of the year. However, we are still waiting for more details about the Transition Plan 5.0 and the criteria for accessing the new incentives provided. Anyway, we remain confident and believe that this economic manoeuvre supported by the Government can influence the success of 34.BI-MU and foster new business negotiations between the operators at the fair.

at the fair we will show the innovative technological features on our machines and the special solutions devised for the needs of our current key sectors: defence, energy and aerospace

Now let’s talk about your stand: could you give us some details about your stand display?

We usually do not exhibit our machine tools at our stand, mainly for two reasons: the specificity of our solutions, which are almost always customised for each customer’s request and the large size of our plants. Despite this, through videos and direct testimonies, we will be able to present the best of our production, showing the innovative technological features on our machines and the special solutions devised for the needs of our current key sectors.

To which sectors are you referring in particular?

For large-sized machines, to date defence is undoubtedly the sector that is investing the most, both in Europe and overseas. In addition, the energy sector – which has remained stationary for years – and the aerospace sector are currently our two most dynamic fields of application, capable of bringing us great results and for which we have many “open projects”.

Speaking instead of technological trends, what influences your production the most?

Our company has always tried to keep up with the various trends in the industry, innovating its production offering from year to year. To date, a specific trend is influencing our activity with particular technologies that are quite innovative compared to our traditional approach. But I don’t want to reveal more… We look forward to seeing you at 34.BI-MU, where you can discover our new proposals!
